10-year-old girl critical after rape in Malkangiri; accused held

ONI Bureau:  Malkangiri Police on Saturday arrested an 18-year-old youth for allegedly raping a ten-year-old girl at MV-10 under Malkangiri police limits on Friday. The girl is in critical condition and undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Malkangiri.

The accused was identified as Chandra Sekhar Barala alias Chintu.

According to the complainant lodged by girl’s father, they had gone to his in-law’s house at MV-10 on Thursday. Where the neighborhood Chintu called her to his house and raped her.

Returning home the minor had revealed the matter to her parents. Following which family members yesterday levelled charges of molestation against the youth.
