11 Students injured in Balloon Gas Blast near Naveen Nivas, Bhubaneswar

Balloons-BlastThe birthday celebrations of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, turned sour, as 11 students, including 10 girls from Ramadevi Women’s University in Bhubaneswar, were injured in a balloon gas cylinder blast near Naveen Nivas.

The injured have been admitted to Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar. They have sustained injuries on hands, foreheads and other parts of the body. However, none of them are said to be critical. Their condition is stable.

According to preliminary reports, the students were celebrating the CM’s birthday by exploding the crackers. The fire generated from the crackers, may have triggered the balloon gas cylinder blast.

Law Minister Arun Sahoo, Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, BMc Mayor Anant Narayan Jena, PCC President Prasad Harichandan, Congress leader Sulochana Das and many other leaders have visited the hospital to enquire about the injured. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is expected to visit the hospital shortly.
