1100 Odia migrants from Kerala reached Odisha today

The first exclusive train carrying as many as 1,150 Odisha’s migrant workers from Kerala reached Jagannathpur Railway Station in Ganjam district this morning. All commuters were sent to the quarantine facilities in their locality by district administration.

The Ganjam Administration informed this in a tweet which said: “Kerala returnees are being welcomed by Ganjam Police.” Five hundred eleven passengers of Kandhamal, Ganjam, Rayagada, Boudh Nabarangpur and Koraput got off at Jagannathpur station while the rest of the travellers will get off the train at Khurda Road station.

Every returnee will go to their native areas along with the particular panchayat-level officials and undergo a compulsory quarantine for 14 days at Temporary Medical Camps. It should be noted that the train had commenced from Ernakulam Railway Station in Kerala after CM Patnaik discussed with Kerala CM to send back the migrant workers.
