12-hour Bandh in Bolangir, Sonepur demanding Kosal State

Insight Bureau:  The Kosal State Coordination Committee (KSCC) has observed a 12-hour bandh in Bolangir and Sonepur districts of western Odisha today demanding a separate state status for Kosal region.

Normal life in both the districts have disrupted. While shops and establishments remained closed in most areas, movement of vehicular traffic too remained disrupted in many places.

The demand for the Kosal state in Orissa has risen mostly because of the prolonged underdevelopment and backwardness of this region.

The leaders claiming that the Odisha government is not doing anything for the development of Koshal region, although this area is full of mineral and natural resources.
