17 people killed in Gajapati District during Cyclone Titli: Bhrugu Baxipatra

ONI Bureau: BJP’s State General Secretary Bhrugu Baxipatra made sensational claims, which was later verified by the reporter of a TV Channel that at least 17 people have been killed in Gajapati district during Cyclone Titli.

The news later authenticated by Locals, Block Chairman and Reporters. The SRC and Gajapati Collector said they received the news, but as the area remains inaccessible, the officials and rescue teams yet to reach the spot.

Bhrugu Baxipatra in a series of tweets, debunked the ‘Zero Casualty’ claims made by Odisha Government and said that 12 people at Baraghar village in Gangabada Gram Panchayat of Rayagad block of Gajpati district. “They had taken shelter in a cave, but killed in a landside,” he claimed. 4 people are still missing. The deceased included 5 kids.

The BJP leader further alleged 2 deaths, including a 12-year-old boy in Badasahi village of Gandahati Gram Panchayat in Rayagad block. A couple (including a pregnant woman) died at Labanyagada Gram Panchayat in Gosani block of Gajapati district. They hailed from Bhadrak and were working at a Granite Factory, he tweeted.

Another 16-year-old girl died in Didinguda village in Alada Gram Panchayat in Kasinagar Block, he further claimed. The TV Reporter also confirmed to the Channel that all these information are authentic and dead bodies have already been recovered. Neither the Government officials nor the media have been able to reach some areas that still remain inaccessible.

In his tweets, Bhrugu Baxipatra raised serious questions on the Government, accusing it of trying to suppress the truth. Bhrugu is currently on his way to Berhampur. He will visit the Cyclone affected areas in Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada districts tomorrow along with other BJP leaders Samir Mohanty and Prithviraj Harichandan.
