18 people die in 15 days in Indravati project area in Kalahandi

KalahandiIn a shocking incident, 18 people died in the villages surrounded by waters of the Indravati water reservoir project in Kalahandi district due to the spread of an unknown disease.

As many as 22 villages under the two gram panchayats are in panic situation due to increasing number of deaths. The deceased people belonged to Bhurubhuri, Temera and Barabadi villages under the Talanagi gram panchayat.

The disease, which broke out in last few days, first attacks people with a fever for a day and then kills the person.

Sadly, the administration is yet to reach the villages to extend adequate support. Only a mobile health team has reached the area by now.

The villages are surrounded by rivers and there is only one boat ferrying people from the village to the mainland. The locals have demanded for power boats and necessary healthcare facilities to check further casualties.
