22nd Refinery & Petrochemical Technology meet kicks off in Bhubaneswar

ONI Bureau:  The 22nd Refinery & Petrochemical Technology meet was inaugurated by the Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in Bhubaneswar today.

The event has been rganised by the Centre for High Technology (CHT), a satellite organisation of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, in association with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL).

Addressing the event the Minister said, “India’s refining capacity should increase to 500 million tonnes by 2040, from existing 247 million tonnes and India needs approximately 250-300 MMT additional refining capacity.

The Indian Oil Corp (IOC) recently started its 15 million metric tonne (mmt) unit at Paradip in Odisha, that will boost profit by as much as 20-30 per cent from next year, Dharmendra Pradhan added.
