3 Jawans injured in Maoists Encounter in Malkangiri

Dantewada-MaoistsBhubaneswar, Oct 8: Three jawans sustained major injuries during a Maoists encounter at Arbula forest along Malkankgiri and Chhattigarh border today morning. The jawans of Cobra battalion were on combing operation in the forest when the Maoists cadres started indiscriminate firing at battalion on the border. In the firing three jawans were injured critically; later they were shifted through an army aircraft to a hospital in Raipur.

There were reports of another exchange of fire between troops and Maoists at Nakamamudi forest in the district. According to police, both encounters are going on at two different locations in the district. It is noteworthy that, yesterday six hardcore Maoists including a woman cadre were killed by CRPF jawans in an encounter at Darbha Ghati. In September, jawans had intensified the combing operation in forest areas after tracing a gun factory of Maoists in the district. As many as 800 Maoists supporters surrendered last month before police SP at the district headquarter.
