3 month-old baby Girl branded with Hot Iron; hospitalised in Angul Dist

In yet another superstition-based practice to cure disease, a three-month-old baby girl was branded with hot iron to cure the stomach ailments at Muktapur village in Angul district.

The infant was admitted to the Pallahada Sub-divisional Hospital in a critical condition following complications after branding with pieces of a heated iron.

The baby suffered from indigestion and his stomach swelled. In order to cure her ailment, her parents took the child to an indigenous healer, who allegedly branded her with a heated metal.
