4 Odia Players selected for Rio Olympics

Rio OlympicsFour girls from Odisha have been selected in Indian women’s hockey team for the Rio Olympics. Deep Grace Ekka, Namita Toppo, Lilima Minz and Sunita Lakra from Odisha will represent the national women’s team.

These four girls will represent the national team in the Olympics which will be played in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from August 5 to 21.

Meanwhile, State Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sudam Marandi has announced Rs 50,000 cash prize each for the four players for their achievements. He also stated that, “It is a matter of pride for the state that its four girls will be part of the Indian Olympic team.”

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also congratulated the four players from the state who found a place in the squad. Earlier, Odia sprinters Dutee Chand and Srabani Nanda have already been selected for the Olympics.
