40 Policemen in Bhubaneswar affected by Jaundice

Odisha-PoliceReacting to a report published in a leading Odia Daily today, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sharma, Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, has confirmed that at least 40 policemen of Reserve Police Line, have been affected with jaundice, but three of them have been cured and sent home.

According to Mr. Sharma, 35 policemen are still being treated at various hospitals. The newspaper had reported that at least 80 policemen, including 25 from traffic and 55 from other police stations and outposts have been affected by jaundice. However, Commissioner RP Sharma dismissed the report.

It seems that the Commissionerate Police tried their best to hide the truth to avoid embarrassment to the government inside the Assembly, as the session is still going on. However, as the issue was highlighted by the media, it raised a question mark on the healthcare system in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, where over 100 people have tested positive for jaundice.
