45 Platoons of Police to guard Puri during Nabakalebara Rath Yatra

Nabakalebara 2015The Odisha Government has decided to deploy 45 platoons of police forces in Puri to ensure a smooth Nabakalebara Rath Yatra on July 18. The decision was taken to tackle unprecedented law and order and traffic situation that may arise during the festival.

The team will comprise of an IG, an DIG, 4 Commandants, 9 Deputy Comandants, 15 Assistant Commandants of DSP rank, 300 Inspector rank officers and over 300 Sub-Inspector rank officers.

The cops will be equipped with high-end and sophisticated infrastructure to deal with all kinds of situation. The police department has decided to update all traffic related information, regulation etc. on the website – www.puripolice.nic.in , which will be updated on a regular basis. In addition, people can get updated information on the Android App ‘Puri Police’ and Facebook page – ‘Puri Rath Yatra Traffic’.

People coming to Puri from Bhubaneswar in four-wheelers, will be guided through Malatipatpur and Konark Marine Drive road to the parking lots in Talabania. They will take the route via central school, Balughat, Biraharekrushnapur and New Nabakalerara road during the return journey.

Two-wheelers will be directed to take right from Biraharekrushnapur and park their vehicles at Jagannath Ballabh Mutt or at Masanichandi area.
