46th Odisha Society of America (OSA) Convention Concludes

Bhubaneswar, 9th July, 2015: Two days long world Odia Convention and two days long Odisha Society of America’s 46th conference were held from 1st July to 4th July in Washington D.C. On 3rd July Sri Debi Prasad Mishra, Hon’ble Minister, Industries, School & Mass Education attended the 46th OSA Convocation as Chief Guest.

In his address, Sri Mishra appealed all Odias living in United States to involve and share their achievements and experience for the development of Odisha. He also spelt out the current policies and commitment of Government of Odisha headed by Hon’ble Chief Minster, Sri Naveen Patnaik. Smt Nisha Desai Biswal, Asst. Secretary of the State Department in her keynote address described the present Indo-US Relationship and congratulated NROs for their contribution.

President OSA, Sri Tapan Padhee, Vice-President Sri Sikhanda Satapathy, Convener Sri Pratap Das and Guest of Honour Sri Ashok Chandra Panda, Hon’ble Minister Tourism & Culture and Padmashree Raghunath Mohapatra addressed in the closing ceremony.

Minister Sri Mishra also conveyed the best wishes of Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri Naveen Patnaik to Odia people present on the occasion. Hon’ble Minister Sri Mishra and others felicitated famous Odia people living in United State on this occasion.

In the inaugural ceremony, Sri Anubhav Mohanty, MP, Sri Priyadarshi Mishra, MLA, renowned Sand Artist Padmashree Sudarsan Patnaik were also felicitated by the OSA. Various cultural organisations of USA presented a colourful cultural programme.

Renowned Odissi dancer Aruna Mohanty, Sujata Mohapatra and Meera Das presented Odissi dance in groups. Guru Ramahari Das, Dhaneswar Swain and his troupe performed Kachery Musical instrument. A Youth and Women convention was also held on the occasion. On 1st July, World Odia conference was inaugurated by Guruji Chandrabhanu Satapathy.
