4th Phase Panchayat Polls begins amid tight Security

Voting for fourth phase of the Odisha Panchayat Polls began on Sunday at 7 am in 28 districts amid tight security. It will continue till 12 noon.

Around 50, 61,974 voters will cast their vote for the election of 1,324 Panchayat Samiti members and 18,876 Ward Members in 162 Zilla Parishad (ZP) zones across 65 blocks.

Following violence in polling booths, ballot box snatching and attack on polling officials, security arrangements have been tightened at the sensitive booths.

Earlier, the State Election Commission (SEC) issued notice to all District Collectors and SPs regarding the safety of the polling parties and polling materials.
