5 Odias including Bhabani Charan Pattanaik get Padma Shri

ONI Bureau: The Modi Government always recognises the efforts and contribution of Odia people in the field of Art and Culture. Like last year, this year also, the Centre has chosen 5 Odias for the prestigious Padma Shri Award.

Freedom Fighter Bhabani Charan Pattnaik will receive Padma Shri for Public Affairs. Pravakara Maharana (Sculpture), Gobaradhan Panika (Art-Weaving) and Chandra Sekhar Rath (Literature and Education) are the other eminent personalities who will receive Padma Shri Awards.

Sisir Purushottam Mishra alias Sisir Mishra will also get Padma Shri in Cinema. Although he is an Odia, he is based in Mumbai. So, he got the award from Maharashtra.

In 2017, famous actor, director and producer Sadhu Meher, eminent renal transplant surgeon Dr. Mukut Minz, Sambalpuri singer of the Rangabati fame Jitendra Haripal and Odishi danseuse Aruna Mohanty were awarded Padma Shri.
