500 New GPs to be created Before Panchayat Polls, says Panchayati Raj Minister

The Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reviewed the annual performance of the Panchayati Raj Department.

After the annual meeting, Panchayati Raj Minister Arun Sahu told to mediapersons that, Odisha government has decided to form 500 new gram panchayats (GPs) before the Panchayat polls.

Sahu said a total of 10,08,586 pucca houses have been built in the state under Rural Housing Scheme and  construction of a community hall in each panchayat is in progress.

The Panchayati Raj Minister informed that, the incentive amount for timely completion of rural housing scheme would be hiked and his department aims to make either metal or concrete roads to all villages by 2019.
