6 Hospitals outside Odisha covered under Biju Swasthya Kalyana Yojana

ONI Bureau: As the war over Centre’s ‘Ayushman Bharat’ and Odisha Government’s ‘Biju Swasthya Kalyana Yojana’ has intensified further with both claiming their scheme to be the best, it has come to light that the BSKY is extended to 6 private hospitals outside the state.

Odisha Health Minister Pratap Jena had clarified last night that BSKY covers 208 Private Hospitals across Odisha and outside the State. However, there was no proper clarity on the list of Cities or Hospitals covered under the scheme.

The Odisha News Insight accessed the page on NHM website that lists all empanelled hospitals under BSKY. While in total 208 Private Hospitals are covered in the list, only 6 from outside Odisha have tied up with the Govt. Two hospitals in Raipur (Chhattisgarh) and four from Vizag (Andhra Pradesh) are empnalled under Biju Swasthya Kalyana Yojana.

As they are covered under OSTF (Odisha State Treatment Fund), they are subject to CM’s approval and would come from CM’s Relief Fund. A lot of documentation would be needed for that.

Although the number of empanelled hospitals outside Odisha are very less, it still comes as a relief for people in Western and South Odisha.

It is expected that Government would further expand the list to cover more hospitals in Vizag as well as other cities of India such as Surat, Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai etc. which have sizable Odia population, including daily wage labourers, plumbers, technicians.

3. Apollo Hospital, Vizag
4 Care Hospital, Vizag
5. Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Institute, Vizag
6. Seven Hill Hospital, Vizag.
