Over 73% Polling in 2nd Phase of Panchayat Polls

panchayat electionsAt least 73 per cent voters turned up to exercise their franchise in the second phase of the Panchayat elections in the State, informed by the State Election Commissioner (SEC) Rabinarayan Senapati.

While Dhenkanal recorded highest 83% voting, Malkangiri recorded lowest at 60%.

Till last report came, out of 174 Zilla Parishad seats BJD candidates are leading in 80 seats, BJP in 56 seats, Congress in 12 seats and others in 4 seats.

Congress won all 3 ZP zones in Jharsuguda district whereas BJD won 3 out of 6 ZP Zones in Bargarh.

Meantime, BJP made a clean sweep in Kalahandi by winning in all 9 ZP Zones.
