Abhijit Iyer Mitra appears before House Committee; apologises for Remarks

ONI Bureau:   Abhijit Iyer Mitra on Tuesday deposed before the Odisha Assembly House Committee in connection with his alleged derogatory remarks against State MLAs.

The committee headed by the Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra, other members including BJD MLAs Debi Prasad Mishra, Pramila Mallick, Arun Sahoo, Sanjay Dasburma and BJP legislature party leader K V Singhdeo are also present at hall no. 54 of the Odisha Assembly. The committee is probing Breach of Privilege allegedly committed by Iyer.

Abhijit Iyer-Mitra apologised before the Odisha Assembly House Committee and his statement recorded during the first phase of hearing today. However, 2nd phase hearing will begin in some time. During his statement, Abhijit said it was his stupidity to said against the MLAs.

Earlier, Abhijit has sought apology for his derogatory remarks by email which was rejected by the House Committee.
