Abhijit Iyer-Mitra gets bail; to appear at Konark PS on Sept 28

ONI Bureau:  Writer Abhijit Iyer-Mitra, who has been in the news over his controversial “satirical” comments on various issues during his Odisha visit, has been granted interim bail by the Saket Court in Delhi, as the cops from Puri failed to provide the relevant documents for transit remand.

Abhijit was granted bail on a surety of Rs 1 lakh bond and asked to join the investigation on September 28. As his interim bail will last till Sept 28, he is all set to file an anticipatory bail in the Supreme Court before that ends. BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy will assist Abhijit to fight his case in SC along with his team of lawyers.

Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi has confirmed that Abhihit Iyer-Mitra will be questioned at the Konark Police Station on September 28. All probe details would be submitted to the court, he said.
