Abhijit Iyer seeks Police protection to appear before House Panel on Oct 11

ONI Bureau:  Journalist Abhijit Iyer Mitra has sought police protection to appear before the House committee in the Odisha Assembly on October 11.

Informing about the development, Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi said that Abhijit Iyer’s lawyer, in an email, has sought security to avoid any untoward incident during his appearance before the House Committee.

Worth mentioning, a six-member Odisha Assembly House panel headed by Narasingha Mishra has summoned Abhijit Iyer to depose before the panel at Room No. 55 of Odisha Assembly by 11 am on October 11 over his alleged breach of privilege and “derogatory remarks”. Earlier on Thursday, the Supreme Court had rejected Mitra’s bail plea.
