Dr. Achyuta Samanta, KIIT & KISS Founder has been selected as the Board Member of International Centre of Films for Children and Young People (CIFEJ). He was inducted as an India member in a board meeting of CIFEJ held at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in the latter half of January this year.
CIFEJ is an independent forum that allows people from all over the world to meet and discuss children’s media by organizing seminars, conferences, roundtables, etc. CIFEJ strives to give children and young people knowledge, not only through producing high quality moral and educative films, but also by organizing filmmaking workshops for this age group; a tool with which they can have their voices heard.
During a workshop organized in KISS, members of CIFEJ taught and trained 18 tribal students of the institute on film making, cinematography and media studies. It has chosen KISS as the training centre in India. The workshop was organised by CIFEJ members from seven countries – India, China, US, Iran, South Africa, Finland and Syria.
Students of KISS gained knowledge on developing understanding among nations; respecting the rights of human being and the rights of children; respecting cultural diversity; showing tolerance for racial, linguistic, and religious differences. Expressing happiness, Dr. Samanta thanked CIFEJ for selecting him in its international board.
