Akshaya Gold Chit Fund Scam: CBI Sleuths raid 4 Places in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, CBI sleuths have conducted raids at four places in Odisha while investigating into Akshaya Gold Chit Fund Scam on Monday. As per reports, the officials raided at four places including the office of the chit fund company in Berhampur.

The chit fund company has reportedly duped over Rs 1 crore from depositors by setting up offices in Berhampur city and other places in the state.

Prior to conducting raids, the CBI team had discussed with the depositors and agents of the company and verified bonds in Berahampur. In 2010, the company having headquarters in Andhra Pradesh had opened branches at Sana Bazar area in Berhampur.  It had collected huge money from the depositors promising lucrative interest. The branches in the city were managed by K Venkhetramana and A Maleswar Rao. After collecting huge money from investors, the officials of the company closed the branches in Berhampur in the year 2012.

Notably, as per the police officials, so far none of the investors have filed any written complaint against the fraudulent company. The officials urged the duped investors to lodge their written complaint.
