Angul sizzles at 47 degrees C, Bhubaneswar records 45.4

The unprecedented heatwave conditions persist in Odisha, as Angul recorded 47 degrees Celsius on Monday. Hirakud and Titilagarh recorded 46.6 and 46.5 degrees Celsius respectively. Bhubaneswar sizzled at 45.4 degrees C.

At least 18 towns in Odisha record above 40 degrees, while 10 of them saw Mercury level crossing the 45 degrees mark. Six Odisha towns record over 46 degrees Celsius on Monday.

The official death toll from sunstroke remained at 4 (Rayagada – 2, Balasore – 1, Bargarh – 1). Howe WR, unofficial sources put the toll at 43.
