Anil Kumar Jha takes over as CMD Mahanadi Coalfields LtdSambalpur , Nov 2:  Anil Kumar Jha on Sunday  took over the charge of Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a leading subsidiary of Coal India Limited. Mr Jha has been associated with Coal India since 32 years.  He assumed the charge as 17th head of  Coal India’s youngest subsidiary MCL, was serving as Director (P&P), MOIL Limited, before assuming the charge of CMD.

The officer brings with him a rich and diverse experience of mine planning, production, management supervision, direction and control of underground as well as open cast coal mines. M-Tech in Mine Planning and Design from the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, Jharkhand, with distinction, Jha started his career from Ranchi-headquartered Coal India subsidiary the Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) in 1983.

He has also rendered his valuable services for 14 years at a sister subsidiary Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI), Ranchi. As the Director (Production & Planning) of MOIL Limited, Mr Jha was Nominated Owner and Head of Production, Planning, Projects, Quality Control and Mine Safety Divisions and other allied departments including Personnel and Industrial Relations Department.
He has also undergone a three-week training programme in Australia in May 1991 on various opencast and UG projects, safety and research institution, equipment manufacturer’s facilities and introduction of new technologies, besides attending International Seminar on Project Management in Finland and advanced training programme on mining in September, 2010, in China. MCL, which aims at 250 million tonnes by 2020, is the most diversifying subsidiary of Coal India, venturing into thermal power and power transmission, besides increasing its green foot-prints through solar power plants.
