Aparajita Sarangi to join BJP on November 27
ONI Bureau: Senior IAS Officer Aparajita Sarangi, who recently took VRS, is finally entering the political arena. She would join BJP on November 27 at a special event in Delhi. She is currently in Delhi and already held discussions with PM Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah.
After joining the BJP in Delhi, Aparajita will come to Odisha on November 28. She would be accorded a grand welcome in Bhubaneswar. It is not immediately known what role she would get in Odisha BJP. Some senior leaders from Odisha may attend the joining ceremony. She is seen as a big asset for the BJP because of her popular and clean image.
Aparajita Sarangi, a 1994-batch Odisha Cadre IAS Officer, was on central deputation since 2013. She was supposed to return to Odisha in October, but applied for VRS in September.
Aparajita Sarangi earned the reputation of an able administrator during her tenure. She brought several reforms in School & Mass Education department, including dress code and ‘no punishment zone’ in schools. As the Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), she was instrumental in beautification of the City by establishing vending zones.
