Arun Patnaik, son of industrialist Prem Patnaik, nephew of Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik and grandson of legendary Biju Patnaik, appeared before the media for the first time today. But, he ruled out joining politics as of now, and said he is focused on other things.
The launching of Arun Patnaik was planned in a meticulous way. The CM took a sudden decision to hand over the ancestral home of late Biju Patnaik to the Odisha Government and dedicate it to people of Odisha. Prem and Arun flew from Delhi to attend the occasion.
Prem Patnaik and Naveen Patnaik signed the relevant documents at the Sub Registrar’s office in Cuttack to formally hand over the property to the government. And, Arun Patnaik, who was present there, spoke to the media after his elders finished their talks.
Although Arun Patnaik is involved in the family business run by Prem Patnaik, many people in the BJD want him at the helm of affairs so that they can continue to evoke Biju and Naveen legacy over the years. It would be interesting to see whether Naveen would pass the baton to Arun before he announces his retirement. He has ruled Odisha for 15 years without any opposition. And, who knows Arun may be able to carry on his legacy further.
