AT Chit Fund Scam: SC grants Bail to Preeti Bhatia

Preeti BhatiaNew Delhi/Bhubaneswar, Nov 4: The Supreme Court on Wednesday graned bail to Preeti Bhatia, who was arrested by the CBI on October 14 last year for her alleged links with Artha Tatwa (AT) Group and multi-crore chit fund scam.

On March 16, her bail plea was rejected by the Orissa High Court. She challenged the High Court’s decision at Supreme Court. As per the directive of the Supreme Court, Bhatia had deposited a bond worth Rs. 1,17,83,000 at the Chief Judicial Magistrate, CBI in Bhubaneswar in May.

As per CBI officials, the agency is investigation into the chit fund scam, Rs. 1, 17, 83,000 was transferred to Bhatia’s account from AT Group. The CBI had raided Preeti’s house in Mumbai on August 16 last year and had found business links between Bhatia and AT group CMD Pradip Sethi, who were directors in a company called Prism Heights Films & Entertainment Private Limited, based in Mumbai. AT Groups said to be invested more than Rs 4 crore of depositors money in the company. Indu Dewan, sister of Bhatia and director of Prism Heights Films & Entertainment Pvt Ltd, has been in lodged in Jharpara jail since October 17, 2015.
