Attack on reporters during Niladri Bije; One servitor arrested at Puri

A servitor of the Puri Jagannath temple has been arrested by police for attacking the media persons during the Niladri Bije ritual of the three deities.

Violence broke out between the servitors and the media persons when they tried to cover the issue which got delayed in the ritual of Lord Jagannath and his siblings, as a young girl accompanied by a senior servitor, climbed the Taladhwaja chariot of Lord Balabhadra and Nandighosa chariot of Lord Jagannath.

The pahandi of Sudarsana was disrupted for an hour during the Niladri Bije of the deities, the way back from the chariots to Ratna Sinhasana of the Shri Jagannath temple.

Puri district Collector Arvind Agarwal, who was present at the spot, had a squabble with some servitors as the devotees climbed the chariots who were said to be the relatives of the servitors.
