Bahuda Jatra concludes, breaks 50-year record today

ONI Bureau:  Bahuda Jatra, the homecoming of the Trinity from Gundicha Temple to Srimandir on chariots concluded before scheduled time today, broke a 50-year record in history.

‘Taladhwaja’ chariot of Lord Balabhadra and ‘Darpadalan’ chariot of Devi Subhadra first reached at  Singhadwar. Lord Jagannath on his Nandighosa chariot reached Singhadwara later and joined elder brother Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra.

Despite rain, lakhs of devotees thronged Puri to witness Bahuda Rath Jatra that marks the ceremonial procession of return of Lord Jagannath and his siblings from Gundicha Temple.

With the conclusion of Bahuda Jatra, all preparations are being put in place for the ‘Sunabesha’ ritual of the deities tomorrow.

CM Naveen Patnaik appreciated the efforts of Shree Jagannath Temple servitors, district administration, police & SJTA for smooth conduct of Ratha Jatra and Bahuda Jatra.
