Bhubaneswar hospital sealed after violations of COVID-19 rules

A private hospital in Baramunda region in Bhubaneswar was sealed by the officials of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). The settlement to close down the private hospital was taken after BMC supposedly detected gross negligence of COVID-19 guidelines.

“The hospital has been sealed for violation of lockdown measures and directives issued for COVID-19 management as per the provisions under Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005, section 188 of IPC, the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 and other legal provisions,” the BMC notice read.

Rabi Narayan Jethy, Zonal Deputy Commissioner (South West) of BMC said a declaration was earlier served based on few errors found by a BMC technical team. The hospital authorities were asked to revise and comply with the norms. But as the administrators of the private hospital took no actions, orders were issued to seal the institution, he added.
