Bijepur Bypoll: 72% Voter Turnout recorded till 5 PM

ONI Bureau:  Around 72 per cent of the voters exercised their franchise in the Bijepur Assembly by-poll till 5 pm today, an election official said.

Though voting was started at 8 am and have concluded at 5pm, due to some technical glitches in electronic voting machines in some booths, the voters who had already entered the polling station premises were allowed to cast their votes after given time.

Till noon the turnout stood at 35 per cent and 68 per cent turnout in peaceful till 4 pm reportedly.

Worth mentioning, the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines are being used in the Bijepur by-poll for the first time.
