Biju Yuva Vahini behind attack on Kharabela Swain: Bhrugu Baxipatra
ONI Bureau: Under fire, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered a Crime Branch probe into the attacks on former Lok Sabha MP and Utkal Bharat President Kharabela Swain at Kashipur in Rayagada district yesterday. The DGP has confirmed that all aspects including the conspiracy angle would be probed. However, BJP’s State General Secretary Bhrugu Baxipatra has lashed out at the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) accusing it of inciting violence in the state.
Bhrugu, who was the first politician to condemn the incident on Twitter yesterday and the posted the video of the attack too, directly put the blame on Biju Yuva Vahini. “The Biju Yuva Vahini has turned Biju Goonda Vahini. The main accused Sumanta is a Biju Yuva Vahini member. Although both the attackers Sumanta Nayak and Krushna Nayak were initially arrested, Krushna was released. Sumanta’s name was removed from Biju Yuva Vahini’s list yesterday,” he alleged.
Bhrugu also claimed that one of the accused Krushna Nayak, who was let off by the police, happened to be the Driver of a BJD leader Jagadish Patro. He is currently doing business with Utkal Alumina. “Was he allowed to escape because of his BJD links,” asked Bhrugu.
The BJP leader also wondered why there is a need to order Crime Branch probe to delay the matter when the video footage has clearly identified the accused and their motive. He also asked why the Cops are not checking Sumanta’s call records as he was seen talking to somebody over phone in the video and asking for more reinforcement to assault Utkal Bharat leaders. He further alleged that Crime Branch probe could be an attempt to shield the accused and give them an exit route.
“We have been maintaining for long that the State Government has spent Rs 450 crore and using liquor to build a ‘Goonda Vahini’ so that it can silence the voice of Opposition. Our worst fears have now come true,” he said.
