Bird Flu: Central Team advises door-to-door Survey in Kerang

A three member Central team on Thursday visited at Keranga village in Khurda district to review the bird flu situation in the area which is about 35 km from Bhubaneswar.

The team met with district collector, Primary Health Centre at Kerang and advised to conduct door-to-door survey in the village and nearby areas.

The district administration has requested Kerang villagers to hand over their poultry to the district administration as people are unwilling to hand over it.

In this connection, the Veterinary officials, Forest staffs and Police were also searched the nearby forest and conducted raids in houses to capture chickens.

Earlier, Centre has directed the Odisha government to take immediate steps to control spread of bird flu virus from the Keranga village.
