Bird flu scare grips Puri villages; Eggs off School meal

ONI Bureau: Bird Flu scares gripped in Puri district following death of over 2000 chickens in Bhrahmagiri block in past 3 days.

Reportedly, out of the 20 chicken samples sent to National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD) in Bhopal for testing, 4 samples from Krushnaprasad block were found positive.

As four villages have been declared bird flu-affected, the district administration has decided to start bird culling from tomorrow. Culling of birds will be carried out in Brahamagiri and Krushnaprasad block.

Besides, district administration directed the Schools and Anganwadi Kendras not to provide eggs to students in Mid-day meals, informed Krushnaprasad BDO Ashok Kumar Mohanty.
