BJD asks Jual Oram to apologise for Polavaram Remarks

ONI Bureau: Taking strong exceptions to Union Minister Jual Oram’s statement that no tribal from Odisha would be affected by Polavaram project, the BJD hit back saying he should apologise for misleading Rajya Sabha as well as people of Odisha.

BJD leader Sanjay Dasburma claimed that most parts of Malkangiri district would be submerged if the Polavaram project is allowed to take place. 15 revenue villages in Motu Tehsil and 10 pada villages in Malkangiri would be submerged, he added.

“While 6,818 people would be displaced due to Polavaram project, 5,916 of them are tribals. So, it’s a blatant lie by Jual Oram that no tribals would be affected. Even, 6,656 forest land would be submerged by the Polavaram project,” Dasburma said.
