BJD bags 63 out of 69 Zilla Parishad Zones in Naveen’s Home Turf

While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made its presence felt across the state, barring a few exceptions, it could not gain much in Odisha CM and BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik’s home turf. BJD has won 63 out of 69 Zilla Parishad Zones in the state. The BJP had to be content with 4 Zones, while Congress and Left won one each.

Although Naveen stayed away from campaigning in panchayat polls, he did attend the poll meeting in Hinjili once. That came as a big moral booster for the cadres and leaders and district and helped the party to convince the voters.

While many BJD leaders contributed to the success of BJD in Ganjam, former Minister Surjya Narayan Patro played a key role in preventing BJP’s march in the district. He could be back as a Minister soon in Naveen Cabinet, it’s believed.
