BJD condemns Centre’s denial to hike MSP of Paddy

BJDInsight Bureau:  Centre’s denial to hike Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy has provoked strong criticism from the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha.

BJD leader Sanjay Kumar Das Burma, BJD MLA from Redhakhol Rohit Pujari, BJD spokesperson Dr. Sasmit Patra and Bijaya Nayak addressed a press conference in Bhubaneswar today.

Speaking at the conference the leaders said farmers’ issue is a national issue and cannot be solved without the support of the union government and Centre’s denial to hike MSP of paddy it clearly going against farmer’s interests.

According to the fifth report of National Commission on Farmers (NCF) or M.S. Swaminathan Commission contained suggestions for inclusive growth of farmers and agriculture sector, enhancing quality and cost competitiveness of farm commodities and also to recommend measures for credit and other marketing related steps. The Centre need to follow the rules of Swaminathan Commission, leaders stated.
