BJD may support NDA Candidate for Rajya Sabha Dy Chairman Post

ONI Bureau:   According to reports, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) may back NDA nominee Harivansh Narayan Singh in the election for the post of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman.

Although BJD will make its stand clear tomorrow, BJP President Amit Shah, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar had called up Naveen, seeking his support.

On the other hand, NCP chief Sharad Pawar also had discussions with Naveen Patnaik for possible Opposition nominee Vandana Chavan. The Opposition has also left scope for a last-minute change on the candidature.

While Congress and TDP have decided to back Vandana Chavan, TRS, Shiv Sena and BJD have not opened their cards yet. If BJD supports the NDA Candidate, it would be accused of tilting towards BJP in the run up to 2019 polls.
