BJD MLA Pradeep Maharathy Passes Away Due To COVID 19; To Be Cremated at Swargadwar

Pradeep Maharathy, BJD MLA and one of the most popular faces in Odisha politics, passed away on Sunday. He was 65.

The Pipili MLA had tested positive for COVID 19 last month and was undergoing treatment at SUM Hospital in Bhubaneswar.

He was put on ventilator support after his condition deteriorated. He breathed his last around 2.35 am on Sunday. His mortal remains will be cremated in Puri’s Swargadwar with state honour.

Pradeep Maharathy started his career as a student politician and went on to become MLA seven times from Pipili.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his grief at the demise of his party leader. He described Maharthy as ‘a stalwart of Biju Janata Dal and long time associate of Biju babu.’
