BJD MLAs snatch Banners from Congress MLAs in Odisha Assembly

odisha-assembly-1The ruling BJD MLAs confronted the Congress MLAs led by Taraprasad Bahinipati and even snatched and tore down the banners held by them, to prove their point and show their might inside the Assembly. The incident occurred during the Question Hour today. Mostly, the youth BJD MLAs were involved.

Congress MLAs by Leader of Opposition, Narasingha Mishra staged a dharna near the Podium of the Speaker and sought an apology from the Government. They asked the Chief Minister to respond and take action against the BJD MLAs.

The Congress called it a gag on democracy and alleged that its MLAs were manhandled. The BJP backed the Congress, while BJD leaders claimed that the young MLAs got agitated and wanted the Congress MLAs to take down the banners that talked ill and negative against their leader (Naveen Patnaik).

Although the Speaker called an all-party meeting to resolve the impasse, Congress MLAs boycotted the meet. However, later they withdrew their dharna and participated in the proceedings.
