BJD sweeps ULB Polls in Odisha, wins 80% Wards

The ULB polls in 8 MunicipalitiesNaveen-BJD-Biju and NACs in Odisha proved beyond that there is no challenge to Naveen Patnaik’s undisputed and invincible leadership in the state. The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), riding high on Naveen’s popularity, has swept the ULB polls today. The BJD secured landslide majority in all 8 ULBs that went to polls yesterday.

BJP drew blank in Dharamgarh, while Congress failed to open its account in Tusura, Daspalla and Redhakhol. BJP secured second spot in 4 ULBs. It came as a major setback for the Congress, which has been on a decline very thick and fast. BJD won around 80% of total wards.

The BJD won 103 out of 129 wards across the state, which comes to 79.85%. The BJP finished second with 12 wards. Congress managed to win just 11 wards.

In Paradeep Municipality, BJD defied all predictions of the tough fight and made it one-sided by winning 16 out of 19 wards. In Sunabeda Municipality, BJD won 18 out of 25 wards, leaving 5 for the Congress and 2 for the BJP. In Belpahar Municipality, BJD won 16 out of 19 wards. BJD won all 5 NACs including Balimela, Dharamgarh, Tusura, Daspalla and Redhakhol hands down.

sunabeda (25) – BJD 18, Congress 5, BJP 2
Paradeep (19) – BJD 16, Congress 2, BJP 1

Balimela (12) – BJD 7, Congress 2, BJP 3
Dharamgarh (14) – BJD 13, Congress 1, BJP 0
Tusura (11) – BJD 8, Congress 0, BJP 2, Others 1
Daspalla (16) – BJD 13, Congress 0, BJP 1, Others 2
Redhakhol (13) – BJD 12, Congress 0, BJP 1.
