Black Flag March of Bhasha Andolan postponed after State Govt’s assurance

ONI Bureau: The Bhasha Andolan on Monday declared to postpone its 825-day-long silent black flag protest after getting assurances from the State Government.

Members of the silent black flag march and Bhasha Andolan Convenor Pradyumna Satpathy, Pabitra Maharatha said to media persons that they met Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera, Development Commissioner & Additional Chief Secretary R. Balkrishnan. The state government assured them to bring two amendments in the existing Act.

Although the black flag protest has been postponed, the Andolan will continue until our demands are met, they stated.

Earlier, Odisha Assembly passed the Odisha Official Language Act-1954 making penal provisions for state government officials and departments for not using Odia language in official communication.
