Brahma Paribartan: Suspended Servitor demands Judicial Probe

Jaykrushna Das Mohapatra, a DaitapatiBhubaneswar, Aug 3: Jaykrushna Das Mohapatra, a Daitapati servitor who was suspended for lapses in Brahma Paribartan rituals during Nabakalebara, has demanded a judicial or crime branch probe into the matter.

In a press meet on Sunday, Mohapatra alleged the temple administration over the irregularities over all the rituals conducted during Nabakalebara from selecting Daru, till Brahma Paribartan ritual. Citing Srimandir record of rights, he said that other Daitapati servitors can also be present during the ‘Brahma Paribartan’ of Lord Jagannath. He alleged the chief administrator of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) of misleading media and people over the issue.

The temple administration suspended Jaykrushna and his father Kashinath Das Mohapatra over the issue of delay in rituals on June 28. Administration alleged the father-son duo of creating chaos inside temple leading to an inordinate delay in the main ritual of Brahma Paribartan.

Under section 21-B of the Shree Jagannath (Administration) Temple Act-1954, administration found them guilty and ordered their suspension. The father-son duo moved to High Court challenging their suspension, which was  later quashed by the court.
