BSF Jawans bust Maoists’ Gun Factory in Odisha

Maoists Gun FactoryBhubaneswar, Nov 2:  Acting on tip-off, the Jawans of Border Security Forces (BSF) busted a gun factory of Maoists on Odisha-Andhra border on Sunday. They seized huge amount of ammunition during the raid at Turukpadu-Motawalesa reserve forest in Pottangi in Koraput district. The jawans arrived at Siribeda village before marching into the forest area for combing operation to executive raid as per the information about the location of the factory.

They raided the forest areas intensifying combing operation and busted the manufacturing unit. They seized five country-made rifles, heat blower machine, drilling machine, live bullets and many more instruments. Notably, such a gun manufacturing unit was bused in the month of September in Malkangiri district, following which Maoists have intensified their insurgency in the district. Recently, the red rebels killed two villagers and set two vehicles on fire in three different incidents in the district.

In September month, many Maoists supporters and hardcore ultras were surrendered before police. Protesting against the surrendering spree, the red rebels called band in some parts of the Odisha and Chhattisgarh. And, some dread leaders of the Maoists outfit were killed by the security forces in Odisha-Chhattisgarh border, among them was the rebel who masterminded the assassination of V C Shukla in 2013.

The rebel outfit has been losing its ground in the Left Wing Extremism in all districts including Odisha. In the state, the officials have also intensified combing operation in all areas including Malkangiri and Odisha-Chhattigarh forest areas. Following the recent violent incidents of killing villagers suspecting as police informers by red rebels made the forces more alert. As per the villagers, there were many posters of Maoists were pasted on the walls threatening them not to support police or security officials.
