Buzz says Narendra Modi to contest 2019 Lok Sabha Polls from Varanasi & Puri

ONI Bureau: For the last few weeks, there has been a buzz about PM Modi contesting Lok Sabha polls from Puri in Odisha with an eye on Eastern part of India. The buzz has now gained momentum amidst reports that several teams from BJP and some independent organisations have visited Puri of late to review the ground situation there.

Even as BJP President Amit Shah and party’s state unit leaders have termed those talks as rumours and speculations, sources close to central BJP have confirmed the development with a clarification that nothing has been finalised yet.

While Modi contesting from Varanasi again remains a foregone conclusion, Puri is on his agenda so that BJP can win good number of seats from Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand, invoking Jagannath Culture.

It would be intersting to see what conclusion is derived from the internal surveys of BJP and if Modi would take the risk of contesting from a State where BJP is struggling to match BJD’s rampaging run.
