Cabinet approves renaming of Jharsuguda Airport as Veer Surendra Sai Airport

ONI Bureau: The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today approved renaming of Jharsuguda Airport in Odisha as “Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda”

Earlier on Tuesday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had written to PM Modi requesting for renaming of Jharsuguda Airport to Veer Surendra Sai Airport.

Naming the airport after Surendra Sai would be a befitting tribute to the legendary son of the soil and reflects the sentiments of the local public of the respective area, the Chief Minister had said in the letter.

Patnaik also urged the prime minister to instruct Air India for operation of flight from Bhubaneswar to New Delhi via Jharsuguda as Air Odisha has suspended its flight operations under the UDAN scheme from Jharsuguda after October 6, 2018 without any valid reason.
