CBI begins 8th Round of Investigation in Itishree Pradhan Murder Case

itishree pradhanRayagada, Aug 13: After reaching Rayagada on last Thursday, CBI DIG Lata Manoj Kumar and Investigating Officer DSP M K Pathak have led a team of eight members including a four member scientific team, Inspector D B Mitrewala & constable Narendra Kumar.

CBI submitted the 1st phase investigation report on August 4th as the deadline and requested the Supreme Court to extend the investigation period for six months; but the apex court has directed the CBI to complete the investigation within next three months.

The entire team has moved to Tikiri and interrogated the headmaster, teachers and attendants of the school in Itishree Pradhan murder case. The scientific team has thoroughly cross checked the room where Itishree was staying. CBI has retrieved the certified copies related to this case from the district court. The team is analyzing the Odia documents.

As for the first time such a big team has arrived alongwith the scientific team. Since a deadline of three months was given by the Supreme Court, it is assumed there will be a lie detection test and few arrests. It may be noted that till now, CBI has interrogated around ninety persons including staff of the school where Itishree was a teacher. Some local businessmen and politicians, etc; but no arrest has been made till date.

CBI has not yet given any press briefing. So there are scores of assumptions, permutations and combinations. On 2-3-2015 , the then DIPRO Jagannath Prasad Raiguru informs the local scribes for a press meet with CBI team at the Circuit House. After a long wait in the lounge, CBI team do not come out for the purpose and finally the reporters go back. In the plea of affecting the investigation, CBI team has avoided the media from the beginning.

“As the county’s premiere investigating agency is taking such a long time, raising a benefit of doubt by the general public is obvious. This round must turn out to be the final countdown to hold the morale of the agency high”, said the local youth leader and social worker Ajay Rath.
