CBSE to introduce 2 levels of Maths exam for Class 10 Students

ONI Bureau:  In a relief to thousands of students, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to introduce two levels of examination in Class 10 Mathematics board examination.

The new change in pattern will come into effect from 2020.

According to a circular issued by the CBSE, the existing mathematics subject will be called Mathematics-Standard and the second level will be called Mathematics-Basic.

However, the syllabus, classroom teaching for both the levels of examination would remain the same.

The board has reportedly cleared that the Mathematics-Basic, the easier level of examination is designed for those who do not wish to study higher mathematics. Meantime, Mathematics- standard would be for those who want to continue Mathematics at higher study.

Students would be able to choose for the level which examination they wish to appear at the time of submission of List of Candidates (LoC) on CBSE’s official web site.

Students who fail in Mathematics-Standard exam will have the option to appear for compartment exam in any of the two levels.
