Central Govt sanctions Rs 456 Cr to Odisha under AMRUT

Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation-AMRUTBhubaneswar, Nov 18: The Central government has sanctioned Rs 456 crore to Odisha under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme for 2015-16. The fund will be utilized for the basic infrastructure development of nine cities in the state.

The nine cities are Balasore, Bhubaneswar, Bhadrak, Baripada , Berhampur , Cuttack, Puri, , Sambalpur and Rourkela. As per Union Urban Development Ministry, Rs 15 crore will be spent for development of drainage system in Puri and under the scheme the fund will be used in the nine cities of Odisha in the current financial year.

The ministry has allocated Rs 5,748 crore to carry out basic infrastructure of cities of five states – Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram and Jharkhand under AMRUT scheme.
